We are thrilled you want to volunteer with us. Our volunteers are the backbone of our rescue. We can't wait to introduce you to our organization and the team that makes it all happen. RDR hosts adoption events featuring our dogs at various locations in DC. We are currently looking for event volunteers to staff the events, social media volunteers to take photos, and shift leaders to manage the events.
Our intake team coordinates the handoff of our dogs to their fosters — ensuring the foster has all of the necessary equipment, paperwork, medications, etc.
To ensure our potential fosters and adopters meet RDR's standards, we have application processing volunteers who help conduct reference checks and screening interviews.
We conduct a virtual home visit with foster and adoption applicants to make sure the applicant's home is a safe place for dogs and a good match for the dog they are interested in.
When needs arise, transportation volunteers help give our dogs rides to vet, bring dogs and fosters to/from events, or help transport supplies to/from events. These volunteers must have their own cars.
Our transport team helps bring dogs from North Carolina to DC. The route is broken up into various legs (NC-Richmond-Fredricksburg-DC), and the volunteer only has to sign up for one leg. These volunteers must have their own cars.
