Senior dogs are almost always overlooked in the shelter. Turned in by people who think they're too old, too sick or handicapped. Rural Dog Rescue takes these sad senior dogs and give them a new lease on life. We help bring them back to the dog they once were, and find them their forever families to live out their golden years. Most senior dogs require extra medical attention before they are ready to go to their forever home. When a senior dog becomes a member of the Rural Dog Rescue pack, they get a full exam from one of our veterinarians. More times then not they require heartworm treatment, a dental cleaning and extractions, biopsy on growths/tumors or xrays and medication for arthritis. Sometimes, not all of our senior dogs are adoptable and we find ourselves in need of hospice fosters to give these special dogs extra love and TLC during the final days. Please consider adopting or fostering a senior dog. If you cannot adopt or foster, please consider making a donation so that we can continue to save senior dogs from spending the last days of their lives in a shelter.
